Article 1

Introduction

Patients with dementia need close attention of caregivers. It is a common practice to have a specific caregiver who takes care of particular patients. There is a high likelihood that there will be a relationship between the caregiver and the patient and, most probably, the patient will benefit from the relationship. It is, however, unclear if the relationship poses risks to the caregiver. The paper examines the possible outcomes of both the recipient of the care and the caregiver.

Research Problem

The research starts by identifying that when one person is down with such a condition as dementia, the relationship is skewed in the favor of the sick person. It then continues to identify the problem of the study that will be to examine how a close relationship between a caregiver and the recipient over time affects physical and psychological well-being of the caregiver.

The researchers have presented a hypothesis, indicating the fact that quality of the relationship is likely to result in stress and other adverse effects on the caregiver. The examples, given in the research study, are in harmony with the purpose of the study, where qualitative analysis is used and one tries to quantify the emotional bond between the caregiver and the recipient.

The target population for this particular study was people with dementia (the recipient of care) and a close person (the caregiver), who they had a prior relationship with before the condition (Fauth et al., 2012). The population is well represented with a few cases of drop out.

By going through the introduction, the reader can clearly get what the study is all about and the areas that have been covered by earlier studies. It also brings out clearly what it intends to cover throughout the study.

Review of the Literature

The review of literature is thorough and goes through past studies and ries to point the parts they did not exhaust completely. It examines studies that have been done years back to some of the recent studies in the field. The research has used both independent and dependent variables in the study. In the review, the researchers acknowledge that this is a very complex field, and it requires study, thus justifying the need for this study.

The models used in the study have been clearly identified. It is used to test the outcome of the research, as well as to compare the results of different participants, which will give the researchers a clear picture (Fauth et al., 2012). Furthermore, the model has been broken down to make it easier for the reader to follow through. It is the appropriate model for the study, as it gives the researcher a comparison.

Theory and Model Used

The models used in the study have been clearly identified as the linear mixed model. It clearly fits the research problem.

Article 2

Introduction

There is a feeling of uncertainty among the loved ones, whenever one of them is diagnosed with a serious health condition. The uncertainty may be spread over several factors. Some of them include medical, social or personal. The research examines different ways in which loved ones are affected by the positive diagnosis of their significant others.

Research Problem

The research problem in this paper is clearly stated, as uncertainty and the different sources of it with the purpose of finding better ways of managing it. The study has a hypothesis that is to consider sourrces of uncertainty. The research question is clear and is in with the study, as it can be seen in the analysis. The target population is clearly defined with the numbers clearly put, and the age bracket is also included (Stone & Jones, 2009). The percentage of the representation regarding age forms a part of the target population.

The introduction gives the reader a guideline, as to what to expect in the study. It indicates that there are areas that have been left by past studies, and it intends to research on them.

Review of the Literature

The review of literature is thorough, as it covers a wide range of sources. The review of literature puts into consideration the different studies that have been conducted in the past over a long period of time and some of the recent studies that have tried to identify the source of uncertainties. It has put into consideration both dependent and independent variables (Stone & Jones, 2009). While the study has looked into the past studies, it has used them as a point of reference and tried to fill the gaps that were left by those studies. By looking at the past studies, the literature review of the study proves that there is a need for this study to avoid duplicating past studies and to fill the gaps left. The researchers have identified the theory that they used in the study. The purpose of the theory is for the purpose of testing. The reader can follow the features of the theory, as they have been clearly brought out.

Theory and Model Used

The researchers have identified the theory that they used in the study, which is the grounded approach theory. The purpose of the theory is that of testing. The reader can follow the features of the theory, since they have been clearly brought out. In this case, the authors have clearly identified various aspects of the theory. The theory can be said to effectively fit the research problem.
